Successful season for Iqaluit project

December 16, 2011

The first season of a two-year project in Iqaluit, Nunavut has drawn to a successful close with about 50 percent of the total project completed. Valard is upgrading the town’s overhead and underground electrical system from 4 kV to 25 kV to improve service reliability. In the first construction season, Valard crews re-insulated, changed poles and transformers, strung in new conductor and converted about a third of the town to 25 kV. Valard crews will return in the spring of 2012 for the second season, with anticipated completion in fall 2012.
