Mt. Milligan Copper/Gold Mine project successfully completed

January 16, 2012

Valard crews have successfully completed the construction of 91 kilometres of 230 kV transmission line from the Kennedy Substation in Mackenzie, British Columbia to the new Mt. Milligan gold and copper mine, located 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George. The procurement and construction project was completed on time, on budget and most importantly, safely.

Incredibly rough terrain resulted in a significant portion of the work being completed with helicopter construction. Despite the challenging work conditions and over 67,000 man-hours logged, Valard’s team of professionals finished the job without a single lost-time incident.

“We had a team of young linemen who really stepped up and built a top-notch product,” says Adam Borowiecki, the project’s onsite project controls specialist.

Borowiecki also points to the exceptional work of Shane Erickson, construction manager; Ritchie Webb, construction superintendent and Brad Kowaski, power line supervisor. “The wealth of experience that these three brought to the table ensured the project went very smoothly,” he adds.
