230 kV AC

We constructed 168 km’s of 230 kV single-circuit transmission line over rugged terrain.

Valard provided project management, construction management and all labour, equipment, and contractor supplied material required to construct this line. This included foundations, assembly and erection of structures, and conductor stringing.

Challenges

Extremely rugged, undulating and mixed terrain including the presence of rocky Canadian Shield outcrops, fractured limestone and deep swampy locations caused significant access, foundation and anchor installation challenges. Construction was only possible during the winter seasons with frozen ice road access.
