Wataynikaneyap Power Project achieves major milestone.

On July 10 we successfully and safely erected the first tower on this project in Northern Ontario!

We would like to recognize the positive support from the local Indigenous communities that made this milestone possible.

Another Substations Energization!

Valard’s VP of Substations, Marcus Levermore, recently shared this post on LinkedIn

“Congratulations to NorthRiver Midstream, Phasor Engineering and the Valard Substations Team for the successful energization of TPW0 in Arras, BC on August 7, 2020! This 138kV greenfield substation (part of TPW2) will connect the existing TupperWest Gas Plant (TPW1) to the grid, receiving power from BC Hydro.”

Northwestel and Valard Construction installing fibre network in Inuvik.

Cabin Radio – Northwestel says Inuvik residents can expect faster and more reliable internet service after it installs a fibre-optic network through most of the town.

In a press release on Tuesday, the telecom company said its new fibre-to-the-home service will significantly improve internet speeds, reliability and data allowances for customers. ‘This is a milestone achievement,’ Northwestel president Curtis Shaw was quoted as saying. “With these upgrades, we will be able to launch Canada’s first full fibre-to-the-home community in the Arctic Circle.”

Northwestel and Valard Construction will replace existing copper wiring to Inuvik homes with fibre-optic lines in the coming months. The press release says construction workers will follow COVID-19 protocols and will require consent from homeowners and residents to access their property.”

Dr. Sarah Newbery recently toured Valard’s Marathon Camp and had this to say:

“I had a great visit to the @valard camp today!

Thanks Iqbal and Anthony for the tour. You have done terrific work to ensure social distancing, crew “bubbles”, safe cafeteria dining (with distancing, packaged food (not buffet), plexiglass separators, a safe gym, and many, many, many opportunities to do hand hygiene. I know that for many small communities the idea of having a lot of people from out of town in the community is a worry.

We all worry about “importing” COVID-19. But you and your staff have done an amazing job to protect and ensure the safety of your workers, and that helps to ensure the safety and health of our community.

Thank you for investing in your staff safety. It’s an investment in the health of the citizens of Marathon and area too, and as a physician here, I am grateful for your effort.”
