Victor began his career as a telecommunications lineman in the Northwest Territories. In the late 1970s, he bought into a small partnership that evolved into Valard. He has steered the company's tremendous growth ever since.
An engineer by profession, Adam oversees all operations of Valard. Before taking on the president's role, he led the electrical scope of Hydro One's Bruce to Milton 500-kV project and established a new business unit in Ontario.
Steve is the Chief Commercial Officer at Valard, responsible for the company’s commercial division, business strategy, growth and positioning in the industry. A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Steve’s previous experience includes top executive positions with SaskTel as President, Sasktel International and Chief Commercial Officer at SaskPower. Steve has been recognized by Caldwell Partners International as one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40 for outstanding achievements in community spirit celebrating the achievements of 40 Canadians in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, who have demonstrated remarkable success before passing the age of 40. Steve has also been nominated for the Ontario Premier's Award on two separate occasions recognizing the achievements of Ontario college graduates in the province and throughout the world. He has also been featured in major Canadian business news media, including The Globe and Mail. Steve has and continues to actively serve on various boards and charitable initiatives across Canada.
Barkley is currently leading the Fort McMurray West 500 kV Transmission Project which is set to start in late 2017. This project is the largest engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) electric transmission project ever awarded in North America. Barkley brings with him three decades of experience in the power line industry. He started his career working as an employee of McGregor Construction, where he fulfilled several different roles, most recently as President, from 2011 – 2014 inclusively. Barkley has worked on numerous EPC substation, transmission and distribution projects. His experience in the field has helped Barkley refine his expertise at managing and connecting the two components of every successful project; the design and the execution. Barkley puts substantial emphasis on teamwork and accountability, key factors in his leadership style.
Andy is an award-winning health and safety leader who has worked in the sector since 1986. With CRSP and CUSP designations, he has overall responsibility for Valard's health, safety and environment initiatives.
Phil oversees distribution projects, distribution estimating, telecommunications and four-party service functions. With 30 years of experience, Phil has seen the industry from almost every angle. He started with Valard in 1981 and has worked as a laborer, apprentice, journeyman, foreman and supervisor, in addition to his current role.
Joe has directed and played a lead role in the construction of innumerable transmission projects, including the Hydro One Bruce to Milton 500 kV double circuit line, 435 kilometres of 115 kV transmission line to the Victor mine in Northern Ontario and the CNRL 260 kV double circuit transmission line with two 260/72/34.5 kV associated plant substations.
Gil has over 30 years of experience in the design and construction of structures and foundations for high-voltage transmission lines and stations. He also has expertise in transmission line planning and routing.
Dave is responsible for Valard Operations in Ontario. Dave has been involved in construction, engineering and management of transmission lines, distribution lines and substations over the last 30 years. He has also led groups on the energization of generation plants and industrial electrical systems throughout North America.
Alain is responsible for the establishment of Valard in Quebec. Alain has more than 35 years experience in the construction field and in the maintenance of powerlines of any voltage, including the pruning of distribution lines, in Quebec as well as in the Northeastern United States, where he worked for 16 years.
Richard and his Finance team are primarily responsible for the reporting of financial and operating results to a variety of stakeholders. Richard graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and since then has obtained a CMA designation and an MBA degree.
Keith has over 25 years of experience in the electrical power industry, including senior roles in executive leadership, project management, operations as well as health and safety. At BC Hydro, his innovative work in Construction Safety earned him the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering Safety Professional of the Year award. As a senior leader, Keith managed the operations and construction divisions of FortisBC, prior to leading several important transmission and substation projects to accommodate an expanding power system. His knowledge of the industry and certification as a Project Management Professional play an important role in his ability to understand and fulfill customers’ requirements. As the president of Allteck Line Contractors, Keith was instrumental in fostering new customer relationships, overseeing significant corporate growth and expanding company operations across Canada.
Prior to joining Quanta Telecom, Dan spent over two decades managing some of the largest telecom infrastructure builds in North America. Dan brings with him over 35 years of related experience and expertise, having worked at a senior level with all of the major telecom operators in North America.
